About Us
CRIP is a six-year project funded by the Australian Agency for International
Development (AusAID) and supports Papua New Guinea (PNG) implement
education reform in basic education and lower secondary, elementary
prep to grade 10. The Project commenced in October 2000 and will
be completed by December 2006. The Project is valued at $A40,000,000.
The PNG Department of Education is the implementing agency for the Government
of Papua New Guinea, especially through the Curriculum Development
Division (CDD) and the Teacher Education and Staff Development
Division (TE&SDD).
SAGRIC International is the Australian Managing Contractor responsible
for the implementation of the Project. SAGRIC is partnered by
the New South Wales Department of Education and Training.
The goal of CRIP is to - improve the relevance and quality of education
provided to school students in PNG. This will be achieved by - effectively
developing, implementing and gaining wide support for the reform curriculum
at the basic education and lower secondary levels. The Project has six components.
Component 1
Reform Curriculum Development
To develop appropriate and relevant curriculum and assessment materials to support the
PNG curriculum reform.
Component 2
Reform Curriculum Production and Distribution
To produce and supply PNG reform curriculum materials to schools in a cost
effective and timely manner, and improve their shelf life.
Component 3
Reform Curriculum Inservice
To skill those staff required to support and implement the curriculum reform.
Component 4
Monitoring and Communication
To generate understanding of and support for the PNG curriculum reform and establish
systems that monitor and evaluate its effectiveness.
Component 5
Project Management
To manage the Project resources efficiently and effectively.
Component 6
Lower Secondary
To develop appropriate and relevant curriculum, and examination and assessment
practices for lower secondary and support their implementation.
