Research and Evaluation
CRIP has funded a series of impact studies during the six-year life of the Project. Further studies will be funded by CRIP over the next three years. These studies will research and evaluate the curriculum reform process and associated support activities.
CURRICULUM STANDARDS MONITORING TEST
CRIP is working closely with the Department of Education to assist it gather data on student performance at the basic education level so that senior officers can monitor the impact of the reform on student learning.
The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and the Department's Measurement Services Unit recently conducted a pilot Curriculum Standards Monitoring Test for students in grades 3, 5 and 8. The tests provide data on student learning in literacy and numeracy and student attitudes to schooling. An innovative feature of the tests is that the grade 3 tests were conducted in four vernacular languages as well as English.
